01. Caminos cruzados by artist César Brodermann. The installation positions a grid of over 300 polaroids on one of the gallery's walls.
Through March 7 to 13, 2024, PUNCTA presents the work of ten emerging photographers at Red de Arte Mexicana, located in the Escandón neighborhood of Mexico City. The exhibition highlights the rich diversity of approaches to a single medium. From explicit personal photographic diaries to experimental installations and video works, the show offers a unique perspective on how these artists utilize the camera. It features work by Matías Alvial, César Brodermann, Eduardo Caballero, Carlos Darder, Iran Dimas, Sandra Loza, Patricio Malagón, Tatsumi Milori, Gilberto Meneses, and Luciana Moreno Mora. The exhibition is sponsored by FLAMER, Koots, and Inmortal.

So much of what we see goes unnoticed. We have become accustomed to the overwhelming number of images online. But what happens when we return to sensation and let the impact a photograph has on us guide our curation criteria? The title of the exhibition comes from the term punctum, introduced by the semiotician Roland Barthes. It refers to the sudden jolt or puncture that occurs when a detail in an image strikes us, evoking a deep reaction in the viewer. We believe each work in this exhibition contains that crucial element, whether materially or conceptually. We decided to name this show a multitude of ruptures with the plural of the term: PUNCTA.
